Corrections Policy
We get things wrong sometimes. When we do, we fix it in the open — we do not quietly delete it.
Report an Error
Email tracenews121317@gmail.com with the article link, the specific sentence you believe is wrong, and — if you have it — the correct information or a source. You do not need to be the subject of the story to report an error.
We acknowledge every correction request within two working days.
How We Handle Corrections
Correction
A factual error that changes the meaning of the story. We fix the text and add a dated correction note at the bottom of the article explaining what was wrong.
Clarification
The facts were right but the wording could mislead. We rewrite the passage and note the change.
Update
New developments in a running story. We add the new information and change the “Updated” timestamp.
Retraction
The story’s central claim does not hold. We replace the article with a clearly labelled retraction explaining what went wrong, and we keep the URL live.
What We Do Not Do
- We do not silently edit a published story to hide a mistake.
- We do not delete articles to make an error disappear. Corrected articles stay online with their correction note attached.
- We do not remove accurate reporting because a subject is unhappy with it.
Typographical Fixes
Spelling, grammar and formatting fixes that do not change meaning are made without a correction note.
Right of Reply
If you are named in a story and believe it is unfair or incomplete, write to us. Where your response adds material context, we will publish it alongside the article.
