f 𝕏 W TG

The UGC NET answer key 2026 is finally out, and lakhs of candidates across India are rushing to check their responses. The National Testing Agency (NTA) released the provisional answer key today, August 16, 2026. Along with it, NTA has also uploaded the recorded response sheets, giving candidates a chance to match their answers before the objection window closes.

If you appeared for the exam this June, here is everything you need to know — from download steps to objection deadlines and updates.

UGC NET Answer Key 2026: What’s New!

The answer key has been released for 84 out of 87 subjects so far. The remaining three papers — English, Commerce, and Sociology — are expected to be added shortly.

This year’s exam introduced two new subjects, Statistics and Forestry, taking the total subject count to 87. Around 10 lakh candidates registered for and close to 7.5 lakh appeared across the country.

The exam was held in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode from June 22 to June 30, 2026. A re-examination for a small number of candidates was conducted on July 5, 2026, after technical glitches disrupted a few centers.

Each paper had 150 objective-type questions worth 300 marks, spread across two shifts a day.

How to Download Answer Key June 2026?

Downloading your answer key and response sheet takes just a few minutes. Here’s the step-by-step process:

  1. Visit the official website — go to ugcnet.nta.nic.in.
  2. Click on the answer key link — look for “UGC NET June 2026 Provisional Answer Key” on the homepage.
  3. Log in using your application number along with either your date of birth or password.
  4. Enter the security pin shown on screen.
  5. Download and save the PDF for your subject, along with your recorded response sheet.

Keep in mind that the response sheet is specific to each candidate, while the answer key itself is common for everyone who appeared for a particular subject.

How to Raise Objections Against the Answer Key

If you spot a mistake in the provisional answer key, you don’t have to just accept it. NTA allows candidates to formally challenge answers they believe are incorrect.

Here’s how the objection process works:

  • Log in to the candidate portal using your credentials.
  • Select the question you want to challenge.
  • Upload supporting documents or references, if required.
  • Pay the prescribed processing fee for each objection raised.
  • Submit your challenge before the window closes on August 18, 2026.

Subject experts will review every objection. Only after this evaluation does NTA prepare and release the final answer key, which is used to calculate everyone’s actual score.

CSIR NET June 2026 Answer Key Also Released

In related news, the answer key was also released today by NTA, alongside the UGC NET key. Candidates who appeared for the CSIR NET exam, held on July 17 and 18, 2026, can now download their provisional answer key.

Like the NET process, CSIR NET candidates will need their application number and date of birth to log in and download their subject-wise answer key and response sheet. An objection window is expected to open shortly, following the same fee-based challenge process.

Since both exams are conducted by NTA around the same period, many aspirants preparing for teaching or research eligibility track both results together.
